Friday, 9th February 2024: The testing of your faith is associated with suffering!

Scripture Reading: Rev 1:9
I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ

Reflections: During the time of John, the island of Patmos was a desolate and rocky place where Rome’s prisoners and exiles were sent. John wrote his letter to the church from Patmos. His location informs us that he was enduring suffering at the time. He explained his persecution on this island resulted from preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and sharing his testimony about him. Through his story, we understand that suffering is permitted in our Christian walk and that its presence does not mean we are out of God’s will. This suffering is only intended to test our faith and prove it is steadfast, just as gold is tested for purity by fire. When our faith has been proven to be pure, we will receive praise, glory, and honour from Jesus (1 Peter 1:7). You must pass any trial of your faith!

Prayer: Dear Lord, help endure any suffering associated with the testing of my faith.

Confession: I endure any suffering associated with the testing of my faith.
