Scripture Reading: Numbers 32:5-6
Wherefore, said they, if we have found grace in thy sight, let this land be given unto thy servants for a possession, and bring us not over Jordan. And Moses said unto the children of Gad and Reuben, Shall your brethren go to war, and shall ye sit here?
Reflections: The people of Israel embarked on their journey to Canaan to possess their God-given inheritance. While on the way, they came across the fertile land of Jazer and Gilead. This land attracted and diverted the attention of the tribe of Reuben and Gad. These two tribes felt no need to continue the journey to Canaan. Jazer and Gilead were good enough to be their ‘Canaan’. Moses was so disappointed by their action that and had to stir them up to reverse their decision. It is common in life to be easily attracted by something that appeals and yet fails to be the ultimate purpose of your life. You will have to be careful about the choices you make. Do not let what seems good in your sight sway you away from obtaining the ultimate goal. Always go for the ultimate! Don’t settle for less!
Prayer: Lord, please grant me wisdom to live by so I will only settle for what you have ordained for my life.
Confession: I will not allow what seems good in my sight to sway me away from the ultimate!
