Scripture Reading: John 18:11
Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?

Reflections: Jesus did not resist when a gang of men tried to arrest him because he knew it was God’s will. But Peter could not stand to watch this happen, so he attacked Malchus, one of the men, and severed his ear. Peter was prepared to prevent them from taking Jesus into custody. Jesus unexpectedly forbade him and assisted him to understand his impending fate was divine and sanctioned by God. At this moment, Peter consented and allowed the arrest to take place. To live according to God’s standards, it is always necessary to comprehend his will for our lives. If we don’t, we might oppose what He has in store for us, which could have serious repercussions. Learn to determine what God wants you to do and do it!

Prayer: Dear Lord, reveal your will to me and assist me in conforming to it.
