Scripture Reading: Daniel 12:13 (KJV)
But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.
Reflections: Daniel receives a profound message: to complete his life’s journey, assured that he will “rest” and later “stand in [his] lot at the end of the days.” This assurance redefines the fear and uncertainty surrounding death, portraying it as a temporary state rather than a final end. The term “rest” is significant, likening death to a peaceful interlude, much like sleep, where the soul awaits a new existence. The phrase ‘stand in thy lot at the end of the days’ points to the promise of resurrection which is not just a return to life but a transformation into a glorified state, where believers are rewarded for their faithfulness. This hope of rest and renewal reminds us not to sorrow as those without hope when a loved one dies, but to find comfort in God’s promise of eternal life.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me see death as a restful pause in Your plan. Strengthen my faith in the promise of resurrection and eternal reward.
Confession: I trust in God’s promise of rest and resurrection. I will not fear death or grieve without hope, for it is a peaceful pause before our glorious transformation.
