Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 16:18 Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the LORD is with him.
Reflections: A demon tormented King Saul. He knew that the sound of the harp would deliver him, so he requested that they find him a harpist. The search continued until a young child named David was identified as the best candidate. However, it is evident from the recruiting officer’s report that David’s selection was not founded solely on his skill with the harp. The report included other unusual attributes such as being physically strong, skillful in war, wise, physically attractive and anointed by God. Certainly, the recruiting officer selected a versatile candidate for Saul. Versatile people can adjust to change, meet demands, and deliver results despite limits. This is what puts them ahead of any competition. Be a versatile individual, like David!
Prayer: Oh Lord, grant me the ability to be versatile.
Confession: I’m versatile. I thrive in any situation.
