Scripture Reading: Genesis 4:25
And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.
Reflections: Abel was slain by his brother Cain. This was a big blow to Adam and Eve, their parents. Overtime Eve took seed again and gave birth to another baby boy. They decided to name him Seth. Their choice for this name conveyed a clear message. Seth in the Hebrew language means ‘appointed or placed’. For them, God had appointed or placed this new baby as a replacement for Abel. Ultimately they saw the new child as a divine compensation and named him as such. In life, we may encounter losses through trials but God has the power to compensate us with a new package.
Like Adam and Eve, the loss of your ‘Abel’, will be compensated with a ‘Seth’. The prophet Isaiah with his words ‘for your shame ye shall have double’ (Isaiah 61:7) confirms that God indeed compensates his children for the troubles they go through in life. Don’t be discouraged in your faith walk, should you encounter losses. There will be a compensation for all the troubles!
Prayer: Strengthen me oh Lord for the trials I go through in life. Let me encounter a package of divine compensation for all the troubles.
Confession: I will not give up the faith for losses or trials I encounter. God will visit me with a package of divine compensation.
