Scripture Reading: Mic 5:2
But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
Reflections: Among the clans of Judah, Bethlehem is noted to be very small and therefore insignificant. However God chooses this small town to become the birthplace of His son Jesus Christ. No one is as great as Jesus Christ but yet he was born in insignificant Bethlehem and more so in a very insignificant home- a manger! The prophetic voice of Micah concerning this birthplace of Jesus Christ demonstrates that one’s background cannot prevent him/her from becoming great. Your greatness lies in you and not within your background. Don’t allow your background to intimidate and limit the greatness in you! Jephthah had a family background which cast a slur on his life and eventually got him ostracized but it never stopped him from becoming great. One day he became the ruler of his clan (Judges 11). Your only limit is you if you so wish and never your background. Break forth wherever you find yourself and harness the potential God has placed within you. You are destined for greatness.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you that I cannot be limited by the location of my birth or my background in life.
Confession: I cannot be limited by the location of my birth or my background in life. It may be insignificant but I will rise up to significance in life.
