Friday, 5th February 2016: You are coming out of the ‘belly of the fish’

Scripture Reading: Jonah 2:1&10
Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish’s belly, And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.

Reflection: Jonah found himself in trouble when he run away from the desires of God. Turbulence from the sea waves caused havoc to the ship he had boarded. The only choice was for the sailors to throw him overboard which brought calmness to the sea waves. In the sea, a huge fish swallows him up. Miraculously he is kept alive in the belly of this fish for three days but life within the fish certainly was nothing pleasant to talk about. The crisis was too much for Jonah but there was one thing the crisis could not stop him from doing- talking to God through prayer! Right from the belly of the fish, God heard Jonah praying! Nothing could stop his voice from reaching God. At the command of God in response to his prayers, the fish vomited out Jonah unto the dry land! Keep to God’s will for your life. Ask God in prayer to command any ‘fish’ holding you up to vomit you out. Like Jonah, the fish cannot keep you forever in its belly. You are coming out!
