Scripture Reading:Matthew 10: 29-31
Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Reflection: Much as they would do valiantly on the field, the 12 disciples were reminded by Jesus of the afflictions they would go through. These afflictions, could make them feel as if they had been forsaken. To forestall this, and to withstand afflictions, they needed to know that they could never and ever be taken out of the sight of God. They were told to remember that if birds ( sparrows) do not leave the eyesight of God, then it was impossible for their lives to escape the radar of God. They were of more value to God than many sparrows. Don’t ever forget that as a child of God, you are called and commissioned (Philippians 3:14 & Mark 16:15). As such, you are of more value than many sparrows. No affliction should break you. Hold on and remember that you mean much more to God than sparrows. God will come through to break it at the time appointed. The psalmist new of this and proclaimed thus: ‘ many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken’-Psalm 34:19-20. Don’t ever feel forsaken in life. Don’t ever give up. God is watching over you and he will bring you deliverance!
