Scripture Reading: Acts 6:3
Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business
Reflections: It became necessary to select and appoint a stream of leadership to distribute food among the disciples. The selection of these leaders was based on a set of standards. Each person was required to have been demonstrating the virtues of honesty, Spirit-filledness, wisdom, and walking in faith (v5) as part of their normal way of living. Hence, these four characteristics set forth the fundamental qualities expected of any disciple of Christ. If we want to make a difference in the world, no disciple should lack any of these qualities. Develop these traits and make them your defining characteristics. You’ll surely be displaying features that demonstrate God’s existence.
Prayer: Oh Lord, grant that I may be honest, Spirit-filled, wise, and faith-based.
Confession: I am honest, Spirit-filled, wise and full of faith.
