Scripture Reading: 1 Sam 23:27-28
But a messenger came unto Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land. Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing David and went against the Philistines: therefore, they called that place Selahammahlekoth. Rock of Escape
Reflections: Saul and his men continued to pursue David. They aimed to kill him so he would never become king. They tracked him down to the wilderness of Maon. Their strategy seemed to have worked to perfection this time around. They got David trapped and began to close in on him. All was therefore set for David’s capture, but just before they could do so, their plan was interrupted. A messenger of Saul arrived from town with the alarming news that the Philistines had invaded the land of Israel. Saul had no option but to turn around from pursuing David and go to meet the Philistines. David was utterly amazed at this intervention strategy in his life by God. He, therefore, called the place ‘Selahammahlekoth’ which means the ‘Rock of Escape’. Like David, God will show up as your Rock of Escape. He will divert every evil and evil men away from your life!
Prayer: Thank you, Lord, that you are my Rock of Escape
Confession: God is my Rock of Escape.
