Scripture Reading:Amo 3:5 Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is for him? shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all?
Reflection: Snares/traps always have a gin or bait. A gin/bait is a hook or noose with some food placed around it. A bird will spot the food and without knowing that there is danger around, will happily start eating the food. In the process as soon as part of its body touches the noose or hook, the bird is swiftly and violently pulled and locked. The whole scenario speaks of somebody innocently and unknowingly walking into danger. ‘No bird can be ensnared without the presence of a gin” declares the prophet Amos. You must understand that danger always lurks around in life in a disguised manner and you must always be careful. Otherwise you will get trapped like the bird. ‘All that glitters is not gold’, they say. Wherever you go, whatever you do, ensure that you operate with a discerning ability from the Holy Spirit so you do not walk into danger. Don’t walk into danger!
Prayer: Oh Lord, help me so that I don’t walk into danger.
Confession: I don’t walk into danger. I know danger when I see one. I have the discerning ability of the Holy Spirit.
