Friday, 29th September 2017: They don’t know it all!

Scripture Reading: 2Kings 4:27
And when she came to the man of God to the hill, she caught him by the feet: but Gehazi came near to thrust her away. And the man of God said, Let her alone; for her soul is vexed within her: and the LORD hath hid it from me, and hath not told me

Reflections: Prophet Elisha had no idea that the woman from Shunem will pay her a visit on mount Carmel that day. When he noticed her coming from a distance, he got alarmed. The woman drew closer and immediately grabbed his feet. Gehazi, his servant intervened to push her away, but he had to restrain him. He realized that in spite of his revelatory gift from God, this particular case of the woman had been hidden from him by God. Probably both Gehazi and the woman might have been surprised to hear Elisha say openly that God had hidden this information from him. It is unfortunate that the revelatory gift possessed by servants of God tend to make people believe that they know it all and they see it all. However by Elisha’s word, that erroneous impression has to be corrected. This knowledge will ensure that you don’t make any prophet or servant of God your God. Remember servants of God are used by God to bless and guide his people. Respect them but let your faith be anchored only in God who alone knows it all and sees it all. By so doing you can avoid walking in error or coming under manipulations.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me not to make any servant of yours my God. You remain our only God.

Confession: A servant of God remains to me as such. I will respect them but won’t allow myself to walk in error or to be brought under any form of manipulation with the role they play in my life.
