Friday, 29th November 2024: You will need a Jonathan!

Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 23:16-17 (NKJV):
“Then Jonathan, Saul’s son, arose and went to David in the woods and strengthened his hand in God. And he said to him, ‘Do not fear, for the hand of Saul my father shall not find you. You shall be king over Israel, and I shall be next to you. Even my father Saul knows that.’”

Reflections: In one of David’s most vulnerable moments, as he fled for his life from King Saul, Jonathan, Saul’s son, became a source of strength and encouragement to him. Despite the danger and his own familial ties, Jonathan sought David in the wilderness, offering words of reassurance and affirming God’s promise over David’s life. This profound act of loyalty and friendship reminds us of the importance of having someone to stand by us in times of trials and challenges. Jonathan’s support was not merely emotional but spiritual. He strengthened David “in God,” directing his focus back to God’s faithfulness and plan. His actions demonstrate that in the face of life’s difficulties, we need godly companions who will lift us up, remind us of God’s promises, and walk alongside us in faith.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for placing people in my life who encourage and strengthen me in You.

Confession: I am never alone, for God sends support in my wilderness seasons.
