Scripture Reading: Isaiah 53: 3
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Reflections: Rejection is a feeling that arises when one feels unwanted or unimportant, leading to negative emotions and behaviours such as loneliness, self-pity, depression, and even suicidal thoughts. Jesus himself experienced rejection, as prophesized by Isaiah. During his trial, he was rejected by the crowd, which led to Pilate sentencing him to crucifixion. On the cross, Jesus felt the intensity of rejection so much that he cried out, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” before passing away. However, Isaiah also prophesized that Christ’s rejection was for our benefit. By confessing our identity in Christ (Galatians 4:1-4) and invoking His shed blood ( Hebrews 12:24), we can experience freedom from rejection. Happy Easter!
Prayer: Through the blood of Jesus, I break free from the power and effects of rejection.
Confession: I am free from the power and effects of rejection.
