Scripture Reading:Act 2:40
And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
Reflections: ‘You must save yourself from this untoward generation’’, Peter informs his audience. The word ‘save’ in Greek is ‘sōzō’ which means to deliver and protect. The word ‘untoward’ on the other hand describes behavior that is depraved, degenerate and immoral. Peter’s message sought to bring his audience to understand that it was their duty to get themselves delivered and protected from the moral decadence of life. The way to do this was to personally accept the Lordship of Jesus Christ and to abide by His standards. The overall key lesson in this is that, in life, there are actions to improve your livelihood which no one can take on your behalf. You must do it yourself. Don’t ever forget that there are duties that you have to personally perform in life!
Prayer: Oh Lord, help me undertake actions that i am personally required to attend to.
Confession: I will not overlook actions I am personally required to undertake.
