Friday, 29th April 2022: Don’t debate divine instructions even when it does not favour your interest!

Scripture Reading: Genesis 22:3
Gen 22:3 And Abraham rose early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose, and went unto the place of which God had told him.

Reflections: It appears so out of the ordinary for Abraham to be told by God to offer up his only son, Isaac, as a burnt sacrifice. Yet early the following day, Abraham proceeded to the given location to carry out the instructions. He did not argue with God or debate the command. In the end, God replaced the sacrifice with a ram and blessed Abraham abundantly for his obedience. This reveals to us a mindset needed to be exhibited by every covenant child to ensure that our walk with the covenant-keeping God becomes rewarding. This mindset does not debate divine orders or instructions even when it does not favour our interests. Mary, for instance, submitted to this mindset when she accepted the divine instruction to bear a child without recourse to a sexual encounter. She said, ‘ be it unto me according to they word’ (Luke 1:38).

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me grow in the grace that will enable me to submit to divine instructions without arguments.

Confession: I walk in the grace that enables me to submit to divine instruction without debating it.
