Friday, 28th July 2023: You must embody the qualities of a remnant!

Scripture Readings: Isaiah 7:3
Then said the LORD unto Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shearjashub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller’s field;

Reflections: The prophet Isaiah named his son Shearjashub, which means ‘a remnant shall return’’. This name holds significant meaning, as God and his prophets highly value remnants. The word ‘remnant’ in Hebrew translates to “what is left” or “what remains,”. Essentially, it refers to a small minority of people who remain faithful to God despite the majority failing to do so. Noah is a prime example of a remnant, as he remained godly even when God wanted to destroy the world due to the wickedness of man. Remnants like Noah do not compromise their godly standards and are dependable in starting new things that showcase God’s glory. As you consider the significance of Shearjashub’s name, strive to live like a remnant and embody those qualities in your life.

Prayer: Lord, please help me to be a remnant.

Confession: I embody the qualities of a remnant.
