Scripture Reading: Ephesians 4:11-12
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Reflections: God requires each child of his to pursue perfection. As a result He made the perfecting of saints one of the primary tasks of the five fold ministers. This means we have people to teach us how to become perfect but this cannot be all. What happens if a teacher teaches alright but the students fail to put what they have been taught into practice? Indeed you also have a responsibility to pursue perfection by putting what you are taught into practice. Don’t underestimate your role as a student of perfection. Perfection is to ‘make (something) completely free from faults or defects’. It speaks of improvement and refinement. You are thus required to involve yourself in the daily actions of improving and refining your christian life on the basis of God’s word until you become faultless! This will be an ongoing process until we exit the earth for heaven.
Prayer: Dear Lord, please give me grace to pursue perfection in life.
Confession: I pursue perfection in life. I get rid of faults and defects in my life and keep improving my lifestyle on the basis of the word of God.
