Scripture Reading: John 11:39
Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days. Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
Reflections: The family of Lazarus expected Jesus to arrive earlier. However, when Jesus stood at his tomb and requested it to be opened, Lazarus had been dead and buried for four days. Martha expressed her lack of faith in the exercise and did not believe any intervention could bring her brother back to life. Mary, her sister, and the mourning crowd felt it was too late for intervention. Jesus demonstrated his all-surpassing glory despite their faithlessness by commanding Lazarus to rise from the dead. This act showed that God can remain faithful even in times of our faithlessness. There is nothing that God cannot do, and He can bypass our lack of faith to prove Himself. His glory and power are all-surpassing!
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you that you are ever faithful.
Confession: God is ever faithful.
