Reflection: David had been ousted from his seat as the king of Israel by his own son Absalom. Even though David had exiled himself, Absalom still pursued him. The bid was to kill him so that Absalom’s reign will be secured. With the entire army of Israel at his command, Absalom was sure to win the battle against his father. After all, David had only a few men with him. As the battle raged on in the Wood of Ephraim, the unexpected happened. Absalom saw his army losing the battle against the underdogs. What was even more shocking was that the woods (trees) also fought for David and killed more of Absalom’s men than the swords did! The woods (trees) then came against Absalom himself as he rode on his mule. ‘They’ arrested his long hair and locked it up within ‘their’ branches. This plucked him up from his mule and got him hanging up. What a sad end for Absalom. God was on the side of David! When God is on your side, anything at HIS command can fight for you- even TREES! Just remain in HIS will. He will take over the battle against your life.
Prayer: Oh God, let creation fight for me! Let me remain in your will!
Scripture Reading; 2Sam 18:8-9
For the battle was there scattered over the face of all the country: and the wood devoured more people that day than the sword devoured. And Absalom met the servants of David. And Absalom rode upon a mule, and the mule went under the thick boughs of a great oak, and his head caught hold of the oak, and he was taken up between the heaven and the earth; and the mule that was under him went away.
