Scripture Reading: Act 2:22
Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:
Reflections: In his Pentecost sermon, Peter introduced Jesus to the crowd as having hailed from Nazareth but was approved by God with signs and wonders. Nazareth, at the time, was a small village and appeared to lack the kind of reputation that made cities great. When for instance, Philip told Nathaniel that the much-awaited Messiah (Jesus) had surfaced and that his ‘hometown’ was Nazareth, he had a good laugh and quizzed thus ‘Can any good thing come from Nazareth?” -John 1:46. Notwithstanding this jaded comment on the background of Jesus, he could not be stopped from coming to the limelight and fulfilling his destiny. The approval of God over his life and ministry, as indicated by Peter, was the driving force behind his success. When God approves of your life, you are accorded every divine assistance you need to push you to your given height! Thus where you come from does not matter, and it cannot determine how far you can go. Divine approval is all you need!
Prayer: Oh Lord, let my life be approved with signs and wonders
Confession: I am approved of God. I am unlimited and unstoppable.
