Friday, 24th January 2025: Serve with Humility and Avoid Self-Promotion!

Scripture Reading: Matthew 12:19
“He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets.”

Reflections: This verse describes the humble nature of Jesus as God’s chosen servant. Despite His power and authority, Jesus never sought to draw attention to Himself. He worked quietly, avoiding unnecessary confrontation or public spectacle, focusing instead on fulfilling His mission. As followers of Christ, we are called to emulate this humility. In the discharge of our duties—whether in ministry, work, or family—we must avoid seeking recognition or applause. True service is about glorifying God, not promoting ourselves. Philippians 2:3 reminds us, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.” When we avoid self-promotion, we create space for God’s power to shine through us. Like Jesus, we can serve effectively by focusing on our purpose rather than drawing attention to ourselves.

Prayer: Lord, help me to serve with humility, avoiding the desire for attention or recognition.

Confession: I avoid self-promotion and allow my work to speak for itself.
