Scripture Reading: Job 23:10
But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold
Reflections: Job’s friends added to his woes by accusing him falsely. As part of his defence, Job submitted that his predicament was just a trial and that in a matter of time, he would come forth as gold. By this, Job was drawing an analogy between the production of gold and suffering in life. To produce pure gold, the gold ore has to be subjected to the heat of fire. This gets it purified and separated from all impurities. Thus pure gold and its true worth are established after the firing process. The trials of life, according to Job then, are just like this process. Hardships will therefore end up producing something glorious in your life. As a result, you don’t ever have to give up in life because of trials. Like Job, you will surely come forth as Gold! Something excellent and beneficial will emerge out of your troubles!
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to endure trials and to come forth as gold
Confession: Anytime, anyhow, I shall endure trials and come forth as gold.
