Friday, 21st January 2022: Refuse to be led merely by the opinions and desires of people!

Scripture Reading: John 6:14-15
Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world. When Jesus, therefore, perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.

Reflections: There were 5,000 men besides the women and children. They looked on as Jesus blessed 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes and handed them over to his disciples. They watched more intently as the disciples started distributing the food to them. They were surprised to note that it never got finished. They ate till they were all full. What amazed them the more was the leftover 12 baskets. Based on this miraculous feat, they formed an opinion that it was worthwhile to make Jesus the political king of Israel. Just before they could swoop on him to begin an investiture process, he perceived their intentions and quickly moved away. He refused to give in to their opinion and desires. He knew such a path will take him away from his destiny. Like Jesus, you must learn to avoid being driven in life by the opinions and desires of people as long as it goes contrary to God’s will for your life.

Prayers: Dear Lord, help me to avoid being driven in life by the opinions and desires of people.

Confession: I am driven in life by the will of God.
