Scripture Reading: 1 Kings 17: 14
For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.
Reflection: The widow was getting ready to die. The famine in the land was so sore. She only had a handful of meal and a little oil to cook for her son and herself. This meal, she believed, was going to be her last after which they will starve to death. As she went out to gather firewood to cook this last meal, she met Elijah. The events that followed completely changed her condition. In the process of serving Elijah with her last meal, God miraculously touched the barrel containing the flour and the bottle containing the oil. The flour and the oil never got finished until the famine was over. Each time the woman wanted to cook, the vessels still had enough flour and oil for the purpose. Amazingly when the woman thought that there was no way out and that she was going to die with her last meal, there was actually a way out. Don’t ever forget that ‘there is a way out even when you think there isn’t! All things are possible with those who believe.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you that there is always a way out. Make a way out for me, oh Lord!
Confession: Absolutely nothing has the final say in my life. There is always a way out when I even think there isn’t.
