Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 12:20-21 (NKJV)
“Then Samuel said to the people, “Do not fear. You have done all this wickedness; yet do not turn aside from following the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart. And do not turn aside; for then you would go after empty things which cannot profit or deliver, for they are nothing.”
Reflections: At Saul’s coronation, the prophet Samuel reminded Israel of the importance of staying close to the Lord. Despite their past mistakes, he urged them to maintain their relationship with God, warning that turning away would lead them to chase “empty things” that could not satisfy or deliver. Samuel’s message is clear: a life without God leads to emptiness, while fellowship with Him brings purpose and security. This passage is a powerful reminder for us today. Many things promise satisfaction but cannot provide lasting peace. Only God fills our deepest needs. Staying close to Him keeps us grounded, content, and protected. Let us remain steadfast in our relationship with the Lord, knowing that He alone can sustain us.
Prayer: Lord, help me to stay close to You and not be drawn to things that cannot satisfy or deliver.
Confession: My life is anchored in fellowship with the Lord.
