Scripture Reading: John 11:3 &11
Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick. These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
Reflection: Lazarus was noted as a FRIEND of Jesus. The Greek word ‘Philos’ is what is translated in English as ‘friend’. It means an ‘associate’. An associate is a close partner or companion. Lazarus therefore was not a mere follower of Christ but had a strong bond of fellowship with Him. This was responsible for the testimony of his life- encountering resurrection after being dead and buried for 4 days. Our friendship with Jesus is a key step in attracting testimonies to our lives. It is time to increase the bond of friendship you have with Jesus. The song writer was right on point when he wrote ‘ What a fellowship, what a joy divine when we lean on the everlasting arms’. Like Lazarus may you be known and labeled as a friend of Christ! Certainly Joy divine shall be your portion!
Prayer: Lord, help me to establish a stronger bond of friendship with you.
