Scripture Reading: 1Ti 1:19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:
Reflections: Paul takes Timothy into a deep dive into the subject matter of faith in warfare. He tells him how inseparable faith and good conscience are and that any attempt to sideline good conscience leads one into destruction. He uses the word shipwreck to describe the state of collapse. A wrecked ship like we know can no longer set sail and is left abandoned. Conscience is the voice of the mind. It approves or disapproves of your actions. When you sin, or you take offence and you refuse to repent and let go, the power of your conscience gets deactivated. You begin to make wrong judgments in life. As Witness Lee puts it, ‘it then leads to leakage in your faith.’. Once your faith leaks out, you are doomed. A good conscience must always accompany faith. To maintain a good conscience, don’t keep sin and offences in your life!
Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me to keep a good conscience.
Confession: I don’t keep sin and offences. I repent and forsake them. I maintain a good conscience.
