Scripture Reading: 1 Sam 21: 14-15
Then said Achish unto his servants, Lo, ye see the man is mad: wherefore then have ye brought him to me? Have I need of mad men, that ye have brought this fellow to play the mad man in my presence? shall this fellow come into my house?
In his bid to escape Saul’s threat on his life, David sought refuge in the land of the Philistines. As he stood before Achish, king of Gath, he suddenly realized he had made a mistake in his choice . He knew he was going to be killed. He had run into danger without knowing it. It was a case of running from ‘frying pan into fire’! . Now he needed to escape immediately but it looked impossible. Suddenly the thought to feign madness came to him. This became his escape strategy! The king took him for a mad person as he acted out as such and ordered him out of his presence. David used this opportunity to run away for his dear life. He was out into safety! Like David, God will make a way for you where there seems to be no way. He will sow a thought into your mind and that will be it! Remember, God is our ever present help in time of need (Psalm 46:1).
Prayer: Dear Lord, fill my thoughts with an escape strategy anytime I find myself in trouble.
Confession: By my God, I will never lack an escape strategy when i need it!
