Friday, 16th September 2022: It pays to obey God!

Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 9:6
Understand, therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people.

Reflections: The people of Israel were excited God was leading them to possess Canaan, a land flowing with ‘milk and honey. Moses quickly explains why they were about to enjoy such a blessing. He reminds them this gesture from God had nothing to do with their righteousness since they were noted to be stubborn. It was linked to God’s promise to Abraham, their forefather, based on his life lived in complete obedience to God. To obey means ‘ to conform to order or submit to authority. To reward Abraham for his level of obedience, God pronounced blessings over him that transcended his lifetime. It was these blessings that Israel had come into contact with at the time of Moses. It is always vital to conform to God’s will and submit to His authority. It helps in positioning you as a channel of divine blessings for others.

Prayer: Oh Lord, help me to be a conduit of blessings to others.

Confession: I live a life in submission to God’s will.
