When the king heard about the prophecy, he humbled himself and called for a national fast, where they focused on confessing their sins. The king further ensured that everyone in the nation changed their sinful lifestyle to a righteous one. As soon as God saw they had practically turned away from wrongdoing, He changed His mind regarding the impending judgment and called off the doomsday. Nineveh, therefore enjoyed the peace of the Lord and prospered. This story highlights that repentance goes beyond just confessing our sins. It requires a changed lifestyle.
