Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 6:17
And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
Reflections: The servant of Elisha discovered that the Syrian army had besieged their residence. Fearing trouble for both himself and his master Elisha, he hurried to notify Elisha of the situation. He was however surprised to find out that Elisha was composed and unfazed upon hearing the news. To calm him down and allay his concerns, Elisha prayed to God for his servant’s eyes to be opened. Instantly, he began to see what his natural sight could not see. In this new sight, he was startled to see that their house was surrounded by overwhelming angelic troops, making it difficult for the Syrian army to gain entry. Consequently his fears disappeared. Although our eyes are designed to see what pertains to our natural environment, they can be empowered by God through prayer to see beyond this domain. Like Elisha’s servant, you too can see beyond the visible; your access to the sphere of the supernatural can help strengthen your faith in God.
Prayer: Oh Lord open my eyes to see beyond the visible!
Confession: I see beyond the visible!
