Friday, 13th October 2023: Keep proving the sincerity of your faith!

Scripture Reading: 1 Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

Reflections: The rapture, also known as our final salvation, is what the apostle Peter calls attention to. Paul gives a detailed account of it in 1 Corinthians 15:50–53 and 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17. Peter says that while we wait for this ultimate deliverance, hardships and temptations are unavoidable. These challenges act as a litmus test for the sincerity of our faith. Peter compares this with the gold fire assay method, which establishes the composition or purity of gold. This suggests that we can show how sincere our faith is whenever we experience adversity, sorrow, or struggles. Put another way, God will allow hardships to validate our faith rather than undermine it. For this reason, until the last rapture occurs, we ought to keep proving the sincerity of our faith.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to keep proving the sincerity of my faith.
Confession: I don’t compromise my faith amid challenges.
