Scripture Reading: Gen 25:6
But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country.
Reflections: Following the death of Sarah, Abraham married Keturah and had six children with her. Just before he died, he took a radical decision of sending away all his children, except Isaac, out of the land of Canaan. Each child received a special departing gift demonstrating his love for all of them. Judging from the covenant promise where Isaac was the chosen one out of whom God will raise up the nation of Israel with the land of Canaan as their inheritance, it is so clear why Abraham took that firm decision before he died. The prudent act was to avert a possible contention that could arise between the six children and their sibling Isaac over Isaac and his descendants right to inherit the land of Canaan as allotted by God. He knew this could not happen during his lifetime but was likely to take place in his absence. Like Abraham, in life, you must act swiftly in a visionary capacity to avoid creating room for contentions that will erupt in the future. Let the Holy Spirit be your guide.
Prayer: Dear Lord, grant me the capacity to create the necessary measures required to forestall challenges that will occur in the future.
Confession. My actions today are visionary influenced. They affect the future positively.
