Scripture Reading: 2 Samuel 6:12
“And it was told king David, saying, The LORD hath blessed the house of Obededom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obededom into the city of David with gladness.” —
Reflections: David’s first attempt to bring the Ark of God to Jerusalem ended in tragedy when Uzzah was struck down for mishandling it. Stricken with fear, David abandoned the mission. However, upon hearing of the blessings the Ark brought to Obededom’s household, his perspective shifted. Refusing to let fear have the final say, David approached the task anew—with proper preparation, reverence, and obedience—and successfully brought the Ark to Jerusalem with great joy. This account teaches us that failure is not the end. David realized that fulfilling God’s purpose required humility, careful planning, and alignment with His instructions. A failed attempt doesn’t mean something isn’t God’s will. Instead, setbacks often refine us, preparing us for greater victories. Like David, we are called to revisit abandoned goals with faith, wisdom, and determination, knowing that God can turn failure into triumph.
Prayer: Lord, give me the courage to revisit abandoned dreams.
Confession: I will not be deterred by past failures.
