Scripture Reading: Matthew 14:28-29
And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
Reflections: In response to the expressed desire of Peter to walk on water like Jesus was doing at that moment, he was asked by Jesus to step out of the boat into the water. The whole thought of attempting to walk on the sea was risky. The bare ground is noted to support a walking feet and not a stormy sea. The risk of sinking was eminent. But Peter was not perturbed. His desire to walk on water had ushered him into the faith realm that could not be stopped by risk characterized endeavors. As soon as he stepped out of the boat, the water began to support his feet just like the ground will do. He began to walk on water. Faith involves risk taking and until you are ready to yield like Peter did, you will remain ordinary. Dare to take the risk of faith as led by the Spirit and see yourself enjoy the miraculous!
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to take any risk associated with faith.
Confession: I take any risk associated with faith. I enjoy the miraculous.
