Scripture Reading: Heb 11:17-19
By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, of whom it was said, that in Isaac shall thy seed be called: Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure
Reflections: Abraham’s willingness to obey God’s command to sacrifice his son, Isaac, is remarkable. God intervened at the last moment, praising Abraham’s obedience and providing a ram for the sacrifice. This act of faith was based on Abraham’s unwavering trust in God’s unchangeable promise to make him the father of many nations through Isaac. Abraham believed so strongly in God’s promise that he was willing to sacrifice Isaac, believing God would raise him from the dead to fulfil what he had promised. This shows how absolute trust in God’s promises or words can lead to a strong demonstration of faith. Until you take God at his word, your faith in him would be limited!
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me take you at your word
Confession: I believe what God says.
