Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth

Reflections: The phrase ‘set your affection on’ is derived from the Greek word ‘Phroneo’. It discusses the attitude of focusing your mind on something you deem necessary. This attitude, in turn, influences your behaviour and your decisions. Simply put, your life is shaped by the things that frequently cross your mind and inspire you to take action. Although we are physically earthly, the Apostle Paul points out that heavenly values—rather than earthly ones—should be those that deserve our thoughts’ undivided attention. This is so because heaven is where we will ultimately end up. He is basically trying to get us to understand that having a focused mindset on heavenly ideals is what makes it possible to grow and show the godly character that gets us ready for heaven. You’ve got to develop a mindset that is focused on heavenly values!
