Thursday, 18th November 2021: God can alter your plans to favour you!

Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 2:30
But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the LORD thy God hardened his spirit and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as appeareth this day.

Reflections: The people of Israel journeyed on towards Canaan. As they passed through cities, God restrained them from fighting the Edomites and Moabites. He only allowed them to buy food and water from them. When they got to the desert of Kedemoth, they resorted to applying the same strategy. They sent a message of peace to Sihon king of Heshbon and requested that he allow them to pass through his territory peacefully, selling food and water to them. The King however, refused their request and instead attacked them. This had been engineered by God. He had altered the plan of the people of Israel on purpose. With His help, Israel overcame this powerful king and his superior army. Their victory cowed the cities around into great fear, allowing them an easy and free passageway as they journeyed on. Like Israel, sometimes God will alter your original plan. By this, He may allow you to face a difficulty you least expect but in the end, the victory you will win will prove to be what opens doors for your life. God can alter your plans to favour you!

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me yield to your ways.

Confession: I yield to the ways of the Lord. In the end, I encounter blessings I least expect.
